What is PRE POO?

Pre POO!
It is what i tell all my clients and guests to do every chance they get.

When you get a chemical process with me i will tell you to wait 3-4 days before washing and when you finally
do wash your hair make sure to
pre-poo (short for pre shampoo treatment)
A treatment done before you wash and condition your hair
with proffesional brand hair care.

There is so many ways to achieve this:
you can simply use a deep conditioner of your choice?  add oils? or a single oil? you can have fun and make your own special diy hair potion like i do.
All you have to do is apply on dry hair, roots to ends if you have dry scalp as well or ends to mid-shaft for replenishing your dry hair with moisture prior to shampooing for 20  minutes or all day how ever long you have.

you can prepoo weekly like i do or every time you wash or every once in a while on an as needed basis.
Benefits:
Longer Lasting  Moisture
Restore hydration levels in the hair and help prevent moisture loss during washing. The end result? Hair that doesn’t feel stripped after it has been cleaned.
Helps seal in color which will give your hair color a longer life span.
Also amazing for natural curly hair textures
and growing long hair.
Long hair is old hair and needs to be moisturized constantly and oils definitely helps to alleviate tangles and stop breakage,
Pre-poo treatments will penetrate the hair improve strength by not only fortifying the hair with vitamins and nutrients, but by improving elasticity. Additionally, pre-poo treatments aid in moisture retention throughout wash day and beyond. Hair will be softer, shinier and stronger for longer.

you can use:
use warm extra virgin coconut oil (EVCO)
 hemp oil
shea butter
extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
Jojoba
Sweet Almond oil
Argan oil
Grapeseed oils
 avocado oil
liquid gold
(keep in mind that any gold color oils will stain pastel, blonde cooler toned hair)
I prefer pure natural oils to be safe some retail oil products normally contain many filler ingredients
to maintain shelf life.
But if thats all have at the moment? USE IT!

After washing the oils out from roots to mid shaft and conditioning ends to mid shaft
you want to rinse with cool or cold water.
It will save you from frizz!
Hair cuticles, which resemble shingles on a roof, lie flat when splashed with cold water. As a result, it will seal in the moisture and hair color which will smooth the cuticles and reflect more light, making hair appear shinier and healthier.
hot water leaves it rough and lacks luster stripping hair of all the oils and natural oils your hair needs.

Have a good diet.
You need a healthy body to have healthy hair.
To grow strong hair from the inside out:
drink water ALL DAY lots of it!
Eat foods with healthy fats & high in protein are best
 such as:
walnuts, salmon, avocado,
Sweet potatoes, lentils
dark leafy greens, spinach, Poultry
blueberries, tomatoes, and strawberries
Get your fill of zinc with oysters, nuts and eggs.

Hope this helps you because it is important to me that you have the tools to take care of your hair
when you leave my chair. xoxo

Cut! Trim! Dust your hair it will grow!!

First things first.
lately all my clients are asking how to grow their hair? Because they are seeing all these HAIR, SKIN AND NAILS VITAMINS being advertised every where and whats the difference between them and just taking biotin? I'm going to break it down one last time for all of you and explain the science behind your beautiful hair. It's important to know that hair grows on an average of 1/2 inch to 1 full inch every four to five weeks.

So now your thinking "mine doesn't ? its been this leghnth forever"  Well, ends dry split and break off. You can take all the Vitamins in the world but your hair is growing from your roots always, why do you think you need a retouch all the time? The problem is the leghnth doesn't stay on because the ends are breaking, when you wash, when you sleep, when you brush. It's important to constantly moisturize & trim your ends before they get dry and brittle because technically: When your hair pushed through your scalp it is now dead material. Is it no longer getting nourished by living tissue. The science behind having long hair is that it's dead hair, the longer the tip the older the hair is which means it's fragile and needs maintenance.  What you put on your hair is vital, vitamins will only help your hair grow in stronger and give you more hair all over your entire body swell as your head. It is up to you to nourish is and keep it from breaking off.

How often should one cut their hair?

Long hair: Should be trimmed at least every 8 to 12 weeks.
if you curl, flat iron and put any kind of heat on it everyday
you should get a cut 8 to 10 weeks.
short hair: should be trimmed every 4 to 8 weeks to keep the shape of your haircut fresh. As previously mentioned, if you are trying to grow your hair out, you will want to consider haircuts every 6 to 12 weeks.
Chemically Processed Hair:
If you color, highlight, perm, or chemically straighten your hair on a regular basis, you may notice that your hair needs trims more frequently. Chemical processes can cause hair to break, split, or become very dry. More frequent haircuts may help prevent over-drying and breakage.

what is the difference between a hair cut? trim? and dusting?
HairCut: To create a new shape or reshape your style.
Trim: To keep the shape you have so you don't loose the body and movement in your current style.
Dusting: Is a point cutting technique used to take the bare minimum off your ends when growing your hair out.

Should these cost different prices?
Negative. Your stylist is still using his/hers skill and time to maintain your look in all cases.

How often should a man get his hair cut?
Haircuts should generally occur every 3 to 4 weeks if you want to look your best; clipper cuts usually need more maintenance every 2-3 weeks after this period, hair generally starts to lose its support and maintain its shape. But 4 to 6 weeks is the peak, and after that your hair is just not cooperating with you anymore.

   OK here goes!
So the summer is right around the corner and even though it doesn't mean YOU MUST go lighter these days of age ( We are not living in the 80's anymore) Lot's of people still like to do so. Since most of my clients have naturally dark hair their blonde is destined to go yellow (EW YELLOW?!) Haha it is really not that serious Unless it makes your skin tone look funky? Theeen YES that means your hair is brassy.  So here is your FIX to keep up your white, pale, purple or grey tones:

Silver Shampoo

Silver Shampoo & Conditioner that adds pigments to the hair which counteracts and neutralizes yellow/golden tones. The pigments add volume and new luster to the hair. Contains UV-protection. Ocean Silk Technology  hydrates, increases shine and gives stability.

Tips for Feeding & growing your hair out.

   1. Trim your hair PLEASE!!  Not trimming won't help your hair to grow faster  (i promise)  you dont want to be THAT girl. By cutting, snipping or dusting away the dead ends you Stop the breakage before your ends starts to go stringy and see through.  Don't lie to your self and call is "natural looking", "Hippie chic"or "mermaid hair" because when people are standing behind you that is NOT what they are thinking... TRUST. How often Should you trim? That depends on the state of your hair, is it bleached? is it virgin? are you in the sun alot? You should trim as soon as you start noticing dead ends or breakage. Otherwise, you should have at the very least 1-inch cut off every three months.
What i hear from new clients ALL the time: "my hair never grows" blah blah YES it does. The problem is its growing from your root and breaking at the ends I CAN SEE IT.  when you start feeling this way that means you need a haircut asap.

   2. Biotin the vitamin will help your hair grow faster But it also makes the hair all over your body grow as well so KEEP that in mind... Eat right. Our hair needs nutrients to grow. I don't mean oils on the out side of your hair, those are used to keep your dry hair from braking off and to make your hair LOOK and feel silky for the time being which can help your ends from splitting due to dryness. Oils cant get INSIDE your hair shaft, get it? All of the unique natural coconut,  awapuhi, argon oils ect. Are doing is sealing the cuticle and patching your parched hair, which is definitely not a bad thing  but our

hair really needs, Vitamins  to grow.
Hair is composed of protein, keratin & vitamins; A (found in fish, spinach), B (found in meat, fish, leafy greens, vegetables), C (citrus), and E (nuts and broccoli ect.) Plenty of H2o. We are what we eat,
it definitely shows when it comes to healthy beautiful Hair.

   3. You need to get the blood flowing and ensure proper circulation. How do you do it? Give yourself a scalp massage every day. Use your fingertips (For a nice treat you can add some tea tree oil to each finger tip for a sweet fresh feeling) in a circular motion directly on your scalp to increase and help circulation (or if you have dandruff or dry scalp you can use rosemary oil for a more intense scalp treatment. Exercise! Moving around keeps the blood flowing to your brain which warms your scalp. burn calories while growing your hair 2 for 1!

   4. Stop washing your hair so damn much. REALLY stop it! And Yes, it totally makes a difference what kind of shampoo/conditioner you are using in between your "NO POO-ing" days. If your shampoo has massive lather then you are intensely striping your hair of oil, as it's meant to do. It's our natural oils that we call dirty hair. So naturally taking away the "dirt" means taking away the oil. But some of that oil keeps your hair protected and shining naturally. Of course, you do need to wash your tresses every now and then. I say three times per week is a fair amount, while others say you should only be washing it once a week? maybe if you live in N.Y. but i live in hot So. Cal and work out regularly.
Our natural oils is what our hair needs MOST, take a boar bristle brush & comb your oils from the very root of your scalp and bring them to the ends for a great hair treatment before you shower. NO-POO doesn't mean you can't get it wet in between while you bathe daily (i hope)  Just nix the shampoo and condition the ends. It all takes some getting used to if you're washing daily. But it's worth it.

(Never brush wet hair. Use a wide tooth comb in the shower when your hair has conditioner in it is the best way but when you do comb your hair in search of tangles, work your way from the bottom up to your head.)
OH! and also if you rinse your hair in cold water you close the cuticles of your hair which results in making the hair BLING.

I recommend: Volume Powder
SACHAJUAN Volume Powder is perfect!  for between shampoos its a powder-based spray that creates volume and provides structured fullness. The product is dry and gives a matt finish and a fresh clean look & feel.

Picture
& Over Night Hair Repair!
Over Night Hair Repair is a gel product based on pure water. It gives you care for your hair while you sleep. It is designed to build the elasticity and to strengthen the hair as well as give it fabulous shine. It has the highest concentration of Ocean Silk Technology of all our products and contains the algae’s of Rhodophycea and Chondrus Crispus. Rhodophycea penetrates the hair and strengthens it from inside while Chondrus Crispus adds moist and shine from the outside creating wonderful hair feeling. The algae’s also adds natural trace elements and minerals to the hair.

Shiny healthy hair shows the world that you have a good diet & live a healthy balanced lifestyle.

But then, maybe you don't give a shit?  mayyy be you're a funky retro kinda chick who's fashion & hair color changes every waking day... and maybe you like looking like a grungy bag lady & smelling like pachouli? Then girl, you better WERQ! You probably don't come out till the sun goes down any ways. So while your bumming it during the day heres a
     DYI HAIR TREATMENT:
Wash your hair first, Mix 1 whole ripe avocado or banana + 1tbs of Olive oil + 1tbs of coconut oil blend well.
put on starting at the bottom of you hair and work your way up.
Then put a bag on that mess and sit for at least 30 minutes.
Wash thoroughly from roots to ends and condition as usual.

Happy growing! take care of that mane.

xoxo Madd Love.
